About Mary

Hello!

My name is Mary Cobham, and I am an accredited music therapist (MTA) working in Vancouver, Richmond, and Burnaby.  I am a graduate of the Capilano University Music Therapy program.

The bulk of my clientele is made up of children and teens who have developmental disabilities, and well as incarcerated teens.  However, I also work with adults and teens of all kinds who are working through things like depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, identity issues, and existential questions.  I am open to working with people of all ages and abilities, because music therapy is for everyone!

Aside from music therapy I have also been a Renaissance Kids music teacher (Richmond, BC), a Music Together instructor (Richmond Music Together), an ABA therapist, a literacy coach, a singer-songwriter, and I have done respite work for families with special needs children.  While I work almost exclusively as a music therapist, I am sometimes still able to provide respite care for families.  For this I charge $25/hour.  Please note that I do not offer music therapy during respite shifts.

As a music therapist I am a consultant, which means that I come to my clients’ schools or homes with my instruments and engage in sessions with them there.

Telehealth Music Therapy:  Since March 2020 I have also begun to offer music therapy sessions via Telehealth [Zoom].

Music therapy offers clients opportunities to learn new skills and discover themselves in an environment that is tailored to their abilities.  My sessions aim to be appropriately challenging, creative, and joyful!
